What your Moon sign reveals

The Moon moves quickly through the zodiac, so your Moon sign captures your inner world — how you feel, react and find comfort. In Vedic astrology it is the single most-used point in the chart: your daily and yearly rashifal, Sade Sati, Dasha periods and marriage matching are all read from your Chandra Rashi rather than your Sun sign.

Use your Moon sign further

Your Moon sign is part of your Free Kundli. From here you can read your daily rashifal, check Sade Sati, find your Nakshatra, or match two charts for marriage.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Moon sign (Chandra Rashi)?

Your Moon sign is the zodiac sign the Moon occupied at the moment of your birth. In Vedic astrology it governs your mind, emotions and instincts, and it is the sign your daily rashifal, Vimshottari Dasha, Sade Sati and kundli matching are all based on.

How is the Moon sign different from the Sun sign?

Western astrology usually means the Sun sign, which stays the same for about a month. Vedic astrology centres on the Moon sign, which changes roughly every 2.25 days — so it is far more personal and is the sign used across Indian astrology.

Do I need my exact birth time to find my Moon sign?

Usually your date and place of birth are enough, because the Moon stays in one sign for about 2.25 days. Exact birth time only matters if you were born close to a sign change — and it is needed for your Nakshatra pada and Lagna (Ascendant).

What can I do once I know my Moon sign?

Read your daily, monthly and yearly rashifal by your rashi, check whether Sade Sati is running, match two charts for marriage, and see your current Dasha — all of these are keyed off the Moon sign.

Is the Moon sign calculator free?

Yes. Your Moon sign, Nakshatra, chart and a preview of every section are free with no sign-up. A full written reading is optional at ₹49 (launch offer, regular ₹149).
